The vet staff couldn't do it. They looked into his soulful eyes and refused. They cared for him themselves — this wobbling, determined little soul — until he was strong enough to enter rescue and find the family he deserved.
That's where we found him. One look and we knew. We named him Ube — and brought him home.
Today Ube navigates the world on his own terms. He wobbles with confidence, conquers a few stairs, and greets every dog, cat and human he meets with the same quiet joy. He had surgery to open his airways, remove his cherry eye and repair his palate — and now he breathes more easily, snores contentedly, and lives the full life everyone once said he couldn't have.
He is 16 pounds of proof that love changes everything. And he inspired every single recipe on this website.
